Jim was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1959 to Don and Elaine Weiland of Lannon. Seeing the importance of Christian education, Jim's parents sent him to St. John's Lutheran School in Lannon and Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee.
While attending Northwestern College in Watertown, Wisconsin, Jim met his wife, Sue. Sue is the daughter to missionaries to Africa, Pastor Richard and Irene Mueller. She was born in Lusaka, Zambia and spent her first thirteen years of her life there. After her family returned to the United States in 1972, she attended Northwestern Prep School in Watertown where she would later meet Jim on the same college campus. They became married in 1982 after Sue had completed her education as a xray technologist and while Jim was still attending Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wisconsin.
Jim and Sue spent Jim's vicar year at St. Matthews in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Jim returned to the seminary for his last year where he graduated in 1985.. Upon graduation, he received his first divine call to First Evangelical Lutheran in Racine, Wisconsin to serve as second pastor with Pastor Nathan Pope.
In 1996, the Lord led Jim to accept His call to serve at Christ Lutheran Church in Merrill, Wisconsin.
Jim and Sue have five children...James, Brian, Becky, Christina and Laura.
It is here in the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin that the Weiland family makes their home!
James married Karen Ihde in 2005. James is attending the Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, WI. Becky married Patrick Kluck in 2005. They have a son, Gabriel James.
Brian attends UW Stevens Point, Christina...Northland Lutheran High School and Laura...Saint Peters in Schofield, WI.
